:
let c = C's time to make one lap
:
In 15 sec, J had run 15/40 or 3/8 of a lap, therefore C has run 5/8 of a lap in the same time.
We can write the relationship: 3:5
An inverse relationship
=
Cross multiply
5c = 3(40)
c = 120/5
c = 24 seconds is C's lap time
