cost of the story book (2/5)T 

cost of the magazine  (1/3)(2/5)T

      8/15T = T - 24

         24 = (7/15) T 

       (15/7)*24 = T = $51.43

  = $20.57

CHECKING our answer***

  $20.57  + $6.86 = $27.43 = $51.43 - $24 = $27.43
