Answer by tutor_paul(519) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let C = Cost of trip.
Let me explain this...
A 10 mile trip is terms of 5ths is 50 5ths of a mile
The 1.5 is the $1.50 for the first 1/5 of a mile.
There are 49 5ths of a mile left in a 10 mile trip; that is the amount you need to multiply by 0.3.
So the final answer is:
dollars
