I have to write an inequality (and a let statement) that represents the number of baskets they must score in their next game to have an average of more than 40 baskets per game. I honestly don't even know where to start.

You start by adding up the scores so far
add x the new score
divide by number of games (6)
(29+43+36+46+38+x)/6>40
(x+192)/6>40
