Question 800121: if berna can paint the house in 12 days and dette can paint the house in 16 days, how many days will it take for them to paint the house if they will work together?
Answer by Cromlix(4381)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Berna's rate = 1/12 job/day
Dette's rate = 1/16 job/day
Together rate = 1/x job/day
Rate + Rate = Together rate
1/12 + 1/16 = 1/x
Common denominator = 48x
4x + 3x = 48
7x = 48
x = 48/7 = 6 6/7
Total rate = 6 days 51 hours
Hope this helps.
