Question 783383: Chris has three times the number of Nintendo DS games as Nintendo Wii games. Each Nintendo DS game costs $30 while each Nintendo Wii game costs $50. How many games of each type does Chris have if he spent a total of $700 on all the games?

Let x = number of Nintendo DS games
Let y = number of Nintendo Wii games
x = 3y
30x+50y = 700
Then
30(3y)+50y = 700
140y = 700
y = 5
x = 15
