Ruler costs $2 + $y
Geometry set costs $5y
$y + ($2 + $y) + $5y = $23
$7y + $2 = $23
$7y = $23 - $2
$7y = $21
y = $3
Pen costs $3
Ruler costs $5
Geometry set costs $15
