Question 767987: i want to see if i'm sloving this word problem right. this is a general math word problem A 180-pound man went on a diet and lost 8 3/4 pounds the first month and 7 1/2 pounds the second month what? was his weight after two months? (Hint: Add the two losses and then subtract from the starting weight!) i got this answer 165 3/4 and i got 165 1/4 so which one is right 15 1/4 7 1/4= 15 1/4- 180 = 165 1/4 and then i got this answer 15 3/4 +7 1/2= 15 3/4+ 7 1/4= 15 3/4-180= 165 3/4. so have i got the right ideal to solve these word problems thank you.
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Convert 8 3/4 into 35/4
Convert 7 1/2 into 15/2
180 - (35/4 + 15/2)
180 - (65/4)
180 - (16 1/4)
= 163 3/4
Hope this helps.
