During feeding season, gray whales eat 3.4 x 10^5 lbs of food per day. If the feeding period lasts for 140 days. How many lbs of food total will a gray whale consume?

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20060)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
140 times (3.4 x 105)

Change 140 to scientific notation:
1.40×102

(1.40×102·(3.4×105)

Multiply the 1.40 by the 3.4, get 4.76.
Add the exponents of 10, get 2+5 or 7.

4.76×107 pounds
