Question 734801:
Half of a third of x equals a fourth of y plus a fifth of y.If x=27 what is the value of y?
Answer by checkley79(3341) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/2(X/3)=Y/4+Y/5
1/2(27/3)=(5Y+4Y)/4*5
27/6=9Y/20 CROSS MULTIPLY.
6*9Y=20*27
54Y=540
Y=540/54
Y=10 ANS.
PROOF:
1/2(27/3=(10/4+10/5)
27/6=2.5+2
4.5=4.5
