Question 72760This question is from textbook Developmental Mathematics
: Solving with equalities
I don't understand how to put this into an equation to solve:
College Course Load To remain on financial aid, Millie needs to complete an average of at least 7 credits per quarter each year. In the first three quarters of 2001, Millie completed 5,7, and 8 credits. How many credits of course work must Millie complete in the fourth quarter if she is to remain on financial aid?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Let x=number of credits needed in the fourth quarter to remain on financial aid
So our equation to solve is:
%285%2B7%2B8%2Bx%29%2F4=7 collect like terms
%2820%2Bx%29%2F4=7 multiply both sides by 4
%2820%2Bx%29=28 subtract 20 from both sides
20-20%2Bx=28-20
x=8
CK %285%2B7%2B8%2B8%29%2F4=7
28%2F4=7
7=7
Hope this helps----ptaylor
