HOW WOULD WRITE THIS FROM POINT TO POINT ON A GRAPH
y = -1.25x + 250; graph this equation from x=0 to x=200
***
Equation for a straight line: y=mx+b, m=slope, b=y-intercept
For given equation:y = -1.25x + 250
Slope=-1.25=-1-1/4=-5/4
The equation can now read: y=(-5/4)x+250
y-intercept=250
So, you have the information you need to graph the line.
One point on the line is 250 on the y-axis or (0,250)
To get the second point, use the slope which=∆y/∆x=change in y/change in x=rise/run
Starting from the y-intercept, go down 5 units, then to the right 4 units.
Draw the line thru the two points.
To check if the graph is correct, plug in to the equation a convenient x-value which would give you a point which is on the line you just drew if it is correct.
