A month has 20 work days. So if you spend $8 a day, then you spend 8*20 = 160 dollars a month.

If you buy a month pass for $80, then you will save 160 - 80 = 80 dollars

This is of course assuming you go to work everyday (for this month) and you use the subway every time.
