Question 703995: I am trying to construct two equations to graph and solve. The story problem is as follows;
A family is moving 893 miles to a new city. Comparing two moving companies, Company A charges 2.40 per mile. Company B charges $1000 for the first 500 miles and then $1.50 per mile for each mile over 500.
Company A. y=2.4x
The equation for Company B I am struggling with. y=1000+(x-500)*1.5 <--is this on track? I just can't figure it out.

A family is moving 893 miles to a new city. Comparing two moving companies, Company A charges 2.40 per mile.
Company B charges $1000 for the first 500 miles and then $1.50 per mile for each mile over 500.
Company A. y=2.4x
Company B. y=1000+(x-500)*1.5
