Question 696659: Can you tell me how to set up this proportion word problem so I can solve it?
The ratio of cars to minivans in a parking lot is 2 to 3.
There are 96 minivans. How many cars are in the lot?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x = # of cars
(# of cars)/(# of minivans) = Ratio of cars to minivans
x/96 = 2/3
3x = 96*2
3x = 192
x = 192/3
x = 64
So there are 64 cars
