Question 671661: My friend and I tried this word problem but we keep getting .01967 and not .029 like the answer should be.
we have to solve for k in...
the number of farms in a certain province has declined continually since 1950. in 1950, there were 92844 farms and in 1995 that number decreased to 24974
Assuming the number of farms decreased according to the exponential model, P(t)=Poe^-kt, find the value of K and write an exponential function that describes the number of farms after time t, in years, where t is the number of years since 1950
me and my friend tried
Ln(24974)/Ln(92844)= -45K
divided by -45 and we go K=.01967
not .029, help?
thanks in advance
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
ln(24974/92844 ) = -45k.ln(e)
ln(24974/92844 ) = -45k
=0.02918
