Question 665449: a+b=7
b+c=9
a+c=8
What is the value of abc?
a+b+b+c= 7+8
a+2b+c= 15
a+c = 15-2b and a+c=8
so 8= 15-2b
8-15 = -2b
-7/-2 = b
therefore b= 3.5 is this on the right track please?

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a+b=7
b+c=9
a+c=8
a+b=7
b+c=9
subtract
a-c= -2
we have a+c=8
add the two
2a=6
a=3
if a=3 , a+b=7 so b=4
if b=4 , b+c=9 so c=5
a=3,b=4,c=5
