The mad Dr. Frankenstein has gathered enough bits and pieces (so to speak) for 2(-1) + 2 (-2)of his creature-to-be. Write a fraction that represents the amount of his creature that must still be obtained.
The amount that he already has is (2)^(-1)+(2)^(-2)
(2)^(-1)=(1/(2^1))=1/2=2/4
(2)^(-2)=(1/(2^2))=1/4
Adding these together we get (2/4)+(1/4)=3/4 which is the amount that he already has
1(creature)-(3/4) creature =(1/4) creature--- the fraction left to get
