I don't know what they mean i know that an algebraic statements is written in words and needs a verb,predicate,subject. in other words a squared plus b squared equals c squared. But i still don't get it can someone show me another example.

"THE VALUE y IS DEFINED IN AN ALGEBRAIC EQUATION BY THE FORMULA (THE VALUE FOR Y EQUALS THE SLOPE(m) TIMES X PLUS THE Y INTERCEPT VALUE (b)."
