Question 655663: I've worked this problem out on paper and come up with one answer for plan A and a different answer for plan B. I don't know how to make them both the same. Can you help? Thanks.

A local waterpark has 2 types of season passes. Plan A cost a one time fee of $142 for admission plus $10 for parking every trip. Plan B cost a one time fee of $48 for parking plus $22 for admission every trip. How many visit must a person make for Plan A and Plan B to be equal in value?

Answer by MathDazed(34)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Plan A = 10x + 142
Plan B = 48 + 22y
Equate them
10x + 142 = 22y + 48
22y - 10x = 142 - 48
22y - 10x = 94
divide by 2
11y - 5x = 47
What I did was just use trial and error at this point.
11(7) - 5(6) = 47
For Plan A, the amount of trips is 6
For Plan B, the amount of trips is 7
