Question 652745: A classroom bulletin board is 7 feet by 4 feet. If there is a picture of a studetn every 6 inches along the edge, including one in each corner, how many pictures are on the bulletin board?
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20055)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Each of the small squares below are 6 inches by 6 inches.

There is a small circle for every picture.

The bulletin board is 14 of those aquares wide and 8 of
those squares tall. There is a picture of a student at every
corner of a square.

If you will count the corners of squares horizontally you will
find there is 1 more corner than there are squares or 15 corners.

If you will count the corners of squares vertically you will
find there is 1 more corner than there are squares or 9 corners.

So there are 15×9 or 135 pictures on the board. Count the circles
if you wish.
