One number is 12 more than another. The sum of the smaller number and twice the larger number is 39 what is the larger number
:
Let the larger number = x
the smaller number = (x-12)
:
Write an equation for what it says:
"The sum of the smaller number and twice the larger number is 39"
(x-12) + 2x = 39
:
3x - 12 = 39
3x = 39 + 12
x = 51/3
x = 17
