Question 607592: The force of attraction of a body varies directly as its mass and inversely as the square of the distance away the body is. A force of 100 Newtons attracts a mass of 8 kg located 5 meters away. Find the force exerted on a mass of 2 kg that is 15 meters away.
I keep getting a Force of 2.77 Newtons for my answer but that can't be right since the distance is farther away and even though the 2 kg is much less than 8 kg needing a force of 100 Newtons. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you!

yes, it is right
the inverse-square reduces it by a factor of 9 ___ (15/5)^2
and the reduction in mass reduces by a factor of 4
100 / (9 * 4) = 2.78 (approx)
