This is a two step equation. The teacher wants it to have 2 different "lets" (like let x=) The question is this: In one season, Ana ran 18 races. This was four fewer races than twice the number of races Kelly ran. How many races did Kelly run?
Let the number of races Kelly ran be: x
Let the number of races Ana ran be: 2x-4
They also told us that the amount of races Ana ran is: 18
Set the races Ana ran equal to each other:
2x-4=18
2x-4+4=18+4
2x=22
2x/2=22/2
x=11
The amount of races Kelly ran is: x=11
Happy Calculating!!!
