Solve the equation (2/3)(x+1) =10
you would multiply out 2/3 into the brackets getting
(2/3)X+(2/3)=10
subtract 2/3
(2/3)X=28/3 (or 9 and 1/3)
and divide out 2/3 to isolate X
x=14

in the equation (2/3)(x+1)=10 x is equal to 14
