Question 558209: Explain why the solution of |-3b|=9 is the same as the solution of |3b|=9
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Assuming x and y are a real numbers, this means that |xy| = |x||y|

So |-3b| = |-3||b| = 3|b| = |3||b| = |3b|

This means that |-3b| = |3b| for every real number b.

So |-3b|=9 is equivalent to |3b|=9
