distance = 1000 ; rate = (a/b)+c mph :

His rate for the 1st a miles is a/b
His new rate is (a/b) + c = (a + bc)/c
----------------
To go 1000 miles
t = d/r = 1000/(a+bc)/c
= 1000c/(a+bc) hours
