The train travels 100 mi/hr in the country, but safety regulations require that it travel only 25 mi/hr when passing through smaller, intermediate cities. How many hours are spent traveling through the smaller cities?
My professor only wants us to make the equation to solve, but solving is not necessary. thanks.

400-x=distance traveling in the country
..
Travel time=distance/speed
(x/25)+(400-x)/100=5.5
after solving for x,
hours are spent traveling through the smaller cities=x/25
