Question 490929: this is miscellaneous i do not know what to categorize these problems at sorry.
1. 1/25 - x^2
2. which is not a factor of 3x^3 - 60 + 15x^2 - 12x
a)x + 5 b)x - 2 c) x - 5 d) x + 2
3. ((5m + n) / (2))= 3
((4m - 3n) / (9)) = -2
4. z^2 = 18
if you could show all work that would be great
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. 1/25 - x^2
Factor:
[(1/5)-x]
=================================
2. which is not a factor of 3x^3 - 60 + 15x^2 - 12x
Factor:
3[x^3+5x^2-4x-20]
= 3[x^2(x+5)-4(x+5)]
= 3(x+5)(x^2-4)]
= 3(x+5)(x-2)(x+2)
------
a)x + 5 b)x - 2 c) x - 5 d) x + 2
Ans: x-5 is not a factor
==================================
3. ((5m + n) / (2))= 3
((4m - 3n) / (9)) = -2
-----
5m + n = 6
4m -3n = -18
-------------------------
Multiply thru the 1st equation by 3:
15m + 3n = 18
4m -3n = -18
------------------
Add and solve for "m":
19m = 0
m = 0
================================
4. z^2 = 18
z = sqrt(18) or z = -sqrt(18)
---
z = 3sqrt(2) or z = -3sqrt(2)
===================================
