Question 46742: If a student scored 75% on a test with a standard deviation of .5 and you know the mean was 70%, what was the estimated range of scores? I have no idea how to solve this one. Thank you for your help.
Answer by Nate(3500) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Does .5 mean 50% (not likely) or .05 mean 5%? i will go with 5%
<--(mean - 2(standard deviation))--(mean - (standard deviation))--(mean)--(mean + (standard deviation))--(%)mean + 2(standard deviation))-->
<- 2% -(60%)- 14% -(65%)- 34% -(70%)- 34% -(75%)- 14% -(80%)- 2% ->
|---all---|----most----|---------some------------|----most-----|----all----|
--->
---> 85% > x > 55%
