Please put 1 grain of wheat on the first square, 2 on the second, 4 on the third,8 on the fourth, and so on, until all 64 squares had been filled. The emperor readily agreed and ordered his men to fulfill Shashi's request. However, his men came back to report that they could not do this even after the national granary had been emptied. Why was this so?
