Let s be the smaller number.
Then the larger number is 1.25s, and by the other given, also s + 12.
Then 1.25s = s + 12.
==> 0.25s = 12 ==> s = 12/0.25 ==> s = 48, the smaller number.
==> the larger number is 60.
