Examine the rise in gasoline prices from 2005 to 2010. The price of regular unleaded gasoline in January 2005 was $1.82 and in January 2010 the price of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.73 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2010). Use the coordinates (2005, 1.82) and (2010, 2.73) to find the slope (or rate of change) between the two points. Describe how you arrived at your answer

Answer by oberobic(2304)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The slope is the rise over the run, which means the change in y divided by the change in x.
You have two point: (2005, 1.82) & (2010, 2.73).
rise = 2010 - 2005 = 5
run = 2.73 - 1.82 = .91
slope = 5/.91
Done.
