Question 440454: Hello,
I need to understand how to solve this problem:
Patrick's final grade is calculated as follows: Homework 10%, Test Average 60%, and final exam 30%. His homework average is 30, test average is 83, Patrick wants a B in the course so he needs a final grade of at least 80. What does he need to make on the final exam to get his course grade of 80?
Thank you very much for your help

Answer by rwm(914)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.10h+.6t+.3f=g
h=30
t=83
g=80
f has to be 90.6667 to get a course grade of 80
That's crazy.
He can barely start his homework and he is going to get a B
No there is no way he can get a 90 on the final if he can't do his homework.
The only thing that make this work is the homework doesn't count for much- only 10 points of the course grade.
