Question 43997: Inverse variations
The current I in an electrical conductor varies univesely as the resistance R of the conductor. If the currant is 1/2 ampere when the resistance is 230 omhs, what is the current when the resistance is 540 omhs?
please help set this up

Answer by adamchapman(301)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
OK, so the current varies inversely with the resistance. We can write:

where x is a fixed constant value.
Rearranging:

When I=230, R=1/2, and this tells us that x=230/2=115
so when R=540,

Giving the solution I=62100 amps
I hope this helps.
I would be extremely grateful if you would send me your feedback on my help to adam.chapman@student.manchester.ac.uk.
