Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
students tickets x Numbers
non student tickets ------------ y Numbers
x + y = 311 .............1
0.5 x + 1.5 y = 385.5 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -1.5
Multiply (2) by 1
-1.5 x-1.5 y = -466.5
0.5 x1.5 y = 385.5
Add the two equations
-1 x = -81
/ -1
x=81students tickets
plug value of x in (1)
1 x + 1 y = 311
81 + 1 y = 311
1 y = 311 -81
1 y = 230
y=230 = 230.00 non student tickets
