Can you help me solve this problem? I tried it about five times and i am coming up with 38 and 122 for the answer but nothing is correct when I go to check.
solve: sara's telephone service costs $21 per month plus $0.25 for each local call, and long -distance calls are extra. Last month, Sara's bill was $34.64, and it included $6.14 in long-distance charges. How many local calls did she make?

You can start by writing the appropriate equation for the total cost (C) of Sarah's telephone service.
where x = the number of local calls at $0.25 each and D = the cost of the long-distance calls.
Substitute into equation above: C = $34.64 and D = $6.14
Simplify and solve for x.

Subtract 27.14 from both sides.
Divide both sides by 0.25

Sarah made 30 local calls.
