Hi
Let x and y represent the cost of popcorn and soda respectively
Question states***
x + 2y = $11.75
2x + y = $13.00
-2x -4y = -23.50
2x + y = 13.00
-3y = -10.50
y = $3.50, cost of a soda
x = 11.75-2y = $4.75, the cost of popcorn
CHECKING our Answer***
2*$3.75 + $3.50 = $9.50 + $3.50 = $13.00
