picture each vector as the hypotenuse of a right triangle made up of north-south and east-west components

using the unit circle and trigonometry , calculate the value of the components and add them
___ n-s plus n-s and e-w plus e-w

the summed values are the components of the resultant vector of the answer

use Pythagoras on the components to find the magnitude of the resultant , and use trigonometry to find the direction angle
