system of equations sir.
let a be number of adults
let s be number of students
6a + 2s = 72
a + s = 26
start by multiplying the second equation by -2, so you can cancel the S's
-2a + -2s = -52
6a + 2s = 72
now just add them up
4a = 20
a = 5
so now you know adults, just plug a into the original equation to get s
a + s = 26
5 + s = 26
s = 21
your final answer would be
21 students, 5 adults
