Question 388648: 1. If a piece of wood is 5cm longer than a second piece and 3/4 of the second piece is equal to the 3/5 of the first what is the length of the second piece?
Answer by lwsshak3(11628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x = length of second piece
let y = length of first piece
y=(x +5)
(3/4)x =(3/5)Y = (3/5)(x +5)
LCD: 20
15x = 12(x+5)=12x +60
15x - 12x = 60
3x = 60
x=20 cm
ans: the length of the second piece is 20 cm
