Hi,
Let x and (340-x) represent the number of student and adult tickets respectively
Question States***
$3.50x + $5(340-x) = $1310
$3.50x + $5*340- 5x = $1310
$1700 - $1310 = $1.50x
$390 = $1.50x
$390/$1.50 = x
x =260, number of student tickets. (adult tickets = 80)
CHECKING our Answer
$3.50*260 + $5*80 = $910 + $400 = $1310
