Question 38585: A ship travels the 200-mile route from Fort Kearney to Omaha at an average rate of 40 miles per hour. The ship reaches Omaha at 1 p.m. What time did it leave Fort Kearney?
Answer by rapaljer(4671)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Distance = Rate x Time
200 miles = 40mph x Time

Divide both sides by 40, and you get
= 5 hours.

If the ship arrived at 1 p.m., then it left Fort Kearney 5 hours before 1 p.m., which would be at 8 a.m.
