When he returns by car, he travels at 75 km/h.
The bike trip is 2 hours longer than the car trip.
How many kilometers is it from the university to Franklin's home?
Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Remember D = RT, distance = rate*time.
Let us call his time for the first trip, t. Thus the time on his return car trip is t - 2. The distances are the same so we have
25t = 75(t - 2)
25t = 75t - 150
-50t = -150
t = 3
So the distance is 25t or 75 miles.
