Answer by rapaljer(4671) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Like terms have exactly the same variables raised to exactly the same powers. for more help on this topic, please see my own website. Click on my tutor name "Rapaljer" anywhere in algebra.com. Click on the link that connects to my website, and look on my Homepage for the link "Basic, Intermediate, and College Algebra: One Step at a Time." Click on "Basic Algebra", "Chapter 1", and look for "Section 1.06 Combining Like Terms". My explanations were written for students who have trouble understanding math, and according to my own students, much easier to understand than traditional textbooks. Trust me this topic is not nearly as bad as it looks if you get a good explanation of it, and if you get LOTS of practice at it!!!
