Answer by sophxmai(62) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x be the smaller number and y be the larger number.
y=2x+9
x+y=5x-3
Substitute y=2x+9 for y.
x+(2x+9)=5x-3
3x+9=5x-3
12=2x
6=x
If x is 6, then y is ?
y=2x+9
y=2(6)+9
y=12+9
y=21
When x is 6, y is 21.
The two numbers are 6 and 21.
