Question 371484: A rabbit and a turtle had a race. They started together at the same time and place. When the turtle had only gone 1/4 of the distance, the rabbit had run to the finish line and back to the turtle. How many times is the rabbit faster than the turtle?
Answer by Aust05(12) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First, the rabbit ran the whole race hich is 4/4 of the way. He then ran back to the turtle. The turtle has 3/4 of the way left to go and that is how far the rabbit ran back to get to the turtle. So 4/4 + 3/4 = 7/4 The rabbit ran a total of 7/4 while the turtle ran 1/4 Divide 7/4 by 1/4 and you get 7. The rabbit is seven times faster since 7/4 is 7x more than 1/4
