Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The length of a rectangular field is 45 ft greater than its width. How much fencing is needed to enclose the field and divide it into two parts?
------------------------
Let the width be "W".
Then Length = W+45
---------------------------------
Draw a picture and label the line segments.
Two Solutions:
3(W+45)+ 2w = 3W+135+2W = 5W+135 ft
----
OR
3(W)+2(W+45) = 3W+2W+90 = 5W+90 ft
=======================================
The anwer depends on where you put the dividing side.
