Draw the picture. Sides of the original square are 4 inches/
Sides of each small square are 2 inches.
Need to find the radius of the circle in order to find the circle's Area.
Draw a line segment from the center of the cirle to a center
point of one of the smaller squares; that is the radius of the circle.
Draw a line segment from the center of the same small square perpendicular
to a side forming a right triangle with the radius of the circle as its
hypotenuse.
The two sides of this triangle are each 2 inches in length.
Use Pythagoras to find the hypotenuse length which is 2sqrt2.
Then find the Area of the circle using Area=(pi)r^2.
