The vertical sides of the rectangle are 4 cm more than three times the side of the square. If the perimeter of the rectangle is twice the perimeter of the square, what are the dimensions of the rectangle?
Can someone show me how to solve this please? It would be much appreciated.

x = horizontal side of the rectangle

The vertical sides of the rectangle are 4 cm more than three times the side of the square.
3(2x) + 4 = (6x+4) vertical side of the rectangle

If the perimeter of the rectangle is twice the perimeter of the square,
:
rect P = twice square P
2x + 2(6x+4) = 2(4(2x))
2x + 12x + 8 = 16x
8 = 16x - 14x
8 = 2x
x = 4
